Tessera
Not to be confused with the Macintosh (and Windows) puzzle game
Tesserae, or with the Atari ST Tetris clone Teserae, this is a simple,
straightforward Connect Four, based on Keith Pomakis' connect-n
algorithm, but with a very well-done and fun presentation. By default
the game runs in 640×480 full screen, but you can force it to run in
a smaller resolution or in a window with command line options. On the
animated menu screen you choose the power of your opponent: do you want
to play against a 10MHz, 200MHz, or 2GHz CPU? The first is no challenge
at all, the last near impossible to beat. Now the contest begins; both
you and the computer are represented by 3D-rendered models, while Chopin
plays in the background. However you think about media-enhanced
simple games, Tessera is, plain and simple, fun.
