Connect 4
Miles Michelson's Connect 4, originally a Macintosh game, is highly
configurable; there are ten board sizes from 6×5 to 14×12, eight difficulty
settings (even the lower ones are quite formidable), and you can choose
whether three, four, five, or six in a row wins. The graphics, too, are
remarkable.
Unfortunately, Miles Michelson's Windows port of his own game does not
quite live up to the Macintosh original. The graphics suffered a bit due to
conversion of the Windows palette. Then, the palette of some of the bitmaps got
corrupted, and the graphics won't display correctly unless the game is run
under hi-color at least.
But it still is a Connect Four with good graphics and a strong AI. And it
runs under Win32s, which makes it, as far as I know,
the only Connect-4 with 256 color graphics that can be played on Windows 3.1.
