Fructus 1.0

Around 1995 Philippe Basciano wrote a series of small games that cover the whole range of the common Tetris variants and spin-offs. This is his take on Columns, based (according to the help file) on John Rotenstein's Columns for Windows. The fruit bitmaps are from Jerry J.Shekhel's Chomp for Windows.

Like all of Philippe Basciano's games, Fructus has gone through a number of versions. He later added pictures by Cezanne, a vignette of Dogmatix, the dog from the Asterix comics books, and the option to play with colored squares instead of the fruit symbols. What you can download here is the very first version, which is still completely in 16 colors. It will just as well run under Windows XP, though it might throw an error when you close it, but so what? You were exiting anyway.
