Yova
Yova expands to Yet Another Version of Attacks. It was originally
released in 1993. About the same time this version 1.1 came out, Michael Banks
ported it to OS/2 as Yova/2.
There are a few curiosities attached to Yova. One is that while it supports
different layouts (there is a nice hole graphic for blocks), the only way to
access it is to play several victorious games in a row. After you have beaten
the AI, a new game will start with some blocks on the board. After you shut
down the program, you'll start on a standard board again the next time.
Secondly it is one of the very few 20 color games. When run on a
256-color desktop, as in the screenshot, it will use three of the four extra
reserved colors (palette index 8, 9, and 247), but none of its own definition.
AAnother game that does so is Piskvorky, but
it uses only one extra color.
