WormWorld
WormWorld was Kevin Ng's first game. It has some similarities
with Lemmings. It could also be seen as a crash course for the
essence of programming.
There is this worm. Like the Lemmings, it just moves along till
it meets an obstacle, then it reverses. It can die by falling from
too high a place, or by falling on spikes. It should reach the exit,
represented here by a yellow pipe. A new element is the cyan block
which it will push one square every time it hits it.
The worm can only be manipulated by putting commands in its way.
There are three commands available, sometimes in limited numbers,
and a command is deleted as it is executed. Commands are not subject
to gravity, they can be positioned in thin air. Stop acts like an
obstacle, making the worm reverse its direction. Bridge will cause
it to build a bridge, crossing a gap. Reverse gravity will do
exactly that.
WormWorld was remade in
QBasic, with some improvements,
by Arnab Bose in 2001.
