Mensch ärgere Dich nicht!
According to the file_id.diz, this implementation of the popular German Ludo
variant was licensed by Schmidt, it is thus quasi official. As a result
it is far closer to the look and feel of the original board game than any other
program.
Even apart from this it is quite a remarkable piece of software. The board
comes in three sizes: 200×200, 400×400, and 700×700. By default the game will
choose the largest board that fits on the desktop. Both a four player and six
player board can be chosen, you can even swap in the middle of a game. Some
rule details are configurable as well. There are other nice details, the pawns
are represented by smilies that change expression depending on whether they are
in the game or not, the cursor changes to a mouse graphic during the computer
opponents' turns, the results of die rolls are announced by voice.
The screenshots were taken under 256 colors, where a few colors are
different. The inlined screenshot shows the smallest board size, click on it
and you see the largest one in six player mode.
