Dominate

Dominate was one of the first 256-color games for Windows 3.1. For 1993, it was spectacular. It would have been spectacular for a DOS game. For a Windows game, it was uncommon. It did not use Windows menus. It did not use Windows fonts. It had its completely own interface.

As an Ataxx game, it is interesting because it was among the first that modified the rules. While you can still spawn to all eight neighboring squares, you can only jump straight, and not over an obstacle. It may also have been the first to use an 8×8 playing field.

But apart from all that, I simply found Dominate more fun to play than most other Ataxx clones.
