Deflektor PC 1.6
Deflektor was originally developed in 1987 for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum
by Costa Panayi and soon ported to most of the relevant platforms of the
day. In this game, the player has to rotate mirrors to deflect a laser
beam in order to destroy all the mines of each level. Short time limits
and the added hazard of system overload if the laser lingers too long on
the wrong spot make it more an arcade than a puzzle game.
Since the largest Spectrum community after the UK was in Spain, it is
not surprising that a remake should come from this country. Ignacio Pérez
Gil started working on it in 1998. The graphics stick close to the
original. At first glance they may seem to be just pixel-doubled, but
actually they are improved in many subtle ways. While designed to run
in 256 colors, the game is completely playable in 16 color mode and
won't look bad either.
By default, the game starts in Spanish. Click on the "Opciones"
button, there you can change the language to English.
