Stonebreaker
After getting past the uninterruptible noisy Lomax logo, Stonebreaker
turns out to be a well done, enjoyable Arkanoid clone. Graphics may be
simpler than in other Breakout games of the time, but I like their classic
style and the pin-up girl, reminiscent of U.S. WW II bombers, is a nice
touch. Caught power-ups are signalled with a few bars of disco music, lost
balls with explosion effects, not overly spectacular but good enough that
I was tempted to lose a few balls on purpose and couldn't resist displaying
them on the screenshot.
Lomax Software distributed a lot of third-party games, but this is
really an in-house development. Michael Voing (here as often credited
as Voeing), the programmer of Stonebreaker, was the boss of Lomax.
