Brix I
Michael Riedel had written the original Brix
out of boredom and released it as freeware. Obviously its fame crossed
the Atlantic, for soon he wrote an enhanced version with more opulent
graphics, trickier (and original) levels, and Soundblaster music for
Maryland-based shareware distributor Epic MegaGames, who released it
in 1992.
This enhanced version is often also known as Brix I, in contrast to
Brix II Deluxe, which you would get when you paid the shareware fee.
Brix II Deluxe featured 112 new levels, more graphics and sounds, and
a level editor. It was shipped with a disk of bonus games.
