Boulder Dash

Petr Simon's Boulder Dash is one of these really well done remakes. It captures the spirit of the Atari original, but puts the higher resolution of VGA to good use: back and digitally remastered, so to say. The only thing that's a bit confusing is that you start the game with the right shift key, not the most intuitive of choices.
