Delta
Of all the
graphical user interfaces for DOS that I have
ever tested, Delta is the easiest to set up and configure. Everything
is saved transparently in text files.
You have a total of 20 buttons and 12 icons. Each of them is linked
to a batch file named prog##.bat, where ## is a number between
01 and 32. The captions are saved in another text file,
system.ini. The icons are text files, too. With 50×30 pixels
they are oddly shaped, but can represent a screen if you want to.
(Compare the icon for Geoworks in the screenshot above!)
There are no system requirements for Delta. It was created on a
12MHz 286 and will probably run on any PC. It supports EGA and
VGA.
The only real drawback of Delta is that you are limited to
32 programs. On a dedicated game PC with hundreds of games it will be
of little use.
